Church Life

Our school mission statement is: Working Together With God's Help We Can All Achieve Great Things

We live out our Christian values through a wide range of activities. We visit Holy Trinity Church for collective worship shared with parents and the community each month. These services are lead by our collective worship council with help from Rev Steve and our Bishop's Visitor Mel.

Remembrance Day 2025

On Remembrance Day we started the day with a service in church. At 11.00 am Class Four children attended the memorial service at Metheringham Aifield and the Museum. The children read a poem beautifully to the assembled guests. We were really proud of their respectful behaviour on this important day. Remembrance Day is particularly important to our school as we have a lot of families with links to the RAF, we also remember the 106 squadron whose memorial is in the village church. We have a special link to the family of one Lancaster flight engineer, William McPhail, who is buried in the churchyard close to our school. We always think about his amazing story of bravery and adventure on this day.

Class One Lead Collective Worship

Our new reception class helped to lead our September collective worship.

Mel told the story of the loaves and the fishes with the help from Class Four children. The miracle of the loaves and fishes inspired our mission statement of Working Together With God's Help We Can All Achieve Great Things'.

Remembrance Day 2024

We held our Remembrance Day service in church, the children had made giant poppies as a focus for the service. After the service we placed some of the poppies on William McPhail's grave to remember all the air crew from RAF Metheringham. Children from Class Four then attended the memorial at the air field and visitors centre.

The McPhail Award

At the end of term Leavers' Service we awarded the McPhail trophy for bravery, determination and service for the first time. The trophy has been made by Majestic Crystal in the village and has been donated by William McPhail's son Paul. The first children to receive the trophy were Daniel, Skye and Liliana (From one family).

Email from Paul McPhail:

Dear Mr Sewell

Thank you so much for your email, and I couldn’t be more proud of the award you have created in memory of my Father.

The fact that it is awarded for bravery, determination, service I think could not be more appropriate and the three young ones who received the award recently certainly seem worthy recipients. Please send them my very best wishes.

With my sincere best wishes, and thank you very much again.

I could not be more proud!!!

Paul McPhail
