Courageous Advocacy

As part of our mission statement, we aim to help our children contribute to the local and global community through charity and work on legacy. These projects support our aim to be 'community of hope'.

We have four strands of the work we do to show courageous advocacy:

  • A long term commitment to the memory of the 106 squadron whose memorial is in Holy Trinity Church. When the106 society disbanded due to the age of the members the school took on the role of keeping alive the memory of the airmen from Methering Airfield that is close to the school. We have a long term connection with the family of Lancaster crew member William McPhail who is buried in the churchyard just across the road from the school.  This work to remember the part is integral to supporting the families we have with RAF links. We know that honouring the past is very important to those serving now.

Paul visited for the first time in 2022 with his brother Keith and shared his father's story for the first time.

Paul visited us most recently in October 2026. He brought his father's flying scarf and read his diary entries from being shot down to escaping back to Britain through Poland with help of the resistance and a British spy..

  • We have embarked on a long-term charity project to support Lincs to Nepal. Following the July 2026 floods in Nepal, we were moved by the plight of people in that country. We want our children to know more about places in the world that are very different from Lincolnshire. Gary from Lincs to Nepal visited us to talk about the work they do building homes and schools in Nepal; our children are working on a long-term fundraising project that will let us support one of the projects.

  • Our local community has a charity which supports a range of projects. MATES (Martin and Timberland Emergency Support) have helped many of our families, from weekly food parcels during COVID-19 to annual Christmas hampers for families in need of help. We have arranged events to help support this local charity which supports the specific needs of our community

  • Other seasonal and one-off charity events. We hold activities which support other national charity work, such as Children in Need and Christmas jumper day.
