The year three and four hockey team took part in the interschool tournament at Horncastle on the 27th January. They won every match and went onto the final which they also won. The children played with great sporting attitude and were a credit to the school.

Widening The Range of Sports
This year we have aimed to widen the range of sports we can offer. Handball has been offered for the first time and our team won their first tournament through the Carres Outreach programme.
Sport and PE.
At Mrs Mary King`s School we aim to educate our children in the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle through the enjoyment
of PE and Sport.
PE is one of our strengths here at Mrs Mary King`s. We introduce the children to a wide range of sporting opportunities through the curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
Since 2017 we have been successful in achieving the GOLD standard in the School Games awards.
We offer a wide range of after school clubs throughout the year to encourage participation in a variety of sports. Through these we also help to prepare the Year 6 children for their transition to secondary school.
After School Clubs.
Netball, Football, Hockey, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Zumba, Gymnastics, Athletics, Tennis, Rounders, Cricket and Cross country.
We have a close association with Lincoln City Foundation who supplement our curriculum with their specialist coaching and knowledge.
Swimming is a priority and is undertaken by all year groups at Branston Community Academy.
Children in key stage 2 visit the National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa to have lessons with Alison Johns, one of their golf professionals. Alison comes into school to teach the younger children during the summer term.
Competitions.
As part of the Schools Sports Partnership run by Carres Outreach Programme we take part in regular competitions and festivals against other local schools.
House competitions take part regularly throughout the year. These give all children the opportunity to take part in a competitive event.
We have a group of Sports Leaders who help to arrange and officiate these events. They also assist at clubs for the younger children to help to inspire them.
Children are signposted to sports clubs in the local area to develop their interest and skills.
